The Museu del Barroc promoted the lecture’s season “La música a la Catalunya del Barroc (1600-1773) (music in the baroque Catalonia).

A season of four conferences about the music in the baroque Catalonia, by the musicologist Oriol Perez i Treviño

On the occasion of Saint Cecily, the patron saint of the musicians, next Thursday February 21 will begin the season “La música a la Catalunya del Barroc, 1600-1773” (music in the baroque Catalonia, 1600-1773). A proposal with four lectures that will highlight the value of music in Catalonia in the cultural context of the moment. Lectures that will talk about well-known artist as Francesc Valls, but with the aim of bringing back the names of authors that had remained forgotten over the years.

The first lecture, “the bird of the instrumental music in the baroque Catalonia” will take place next November 21st at 6 pm, in the cloisters’ room of the Museu de Manresa. Between February and May of the next year will take place the other lectures, about different subjects as the opera, the religious music or a general state of research of the baroque Catalan music spreading.

The four lectures of the season will be led by the musicologist and essayist Oriol Perez i Treviño. Over the course of her career, he had combined the research with the direction of important projects as the Xarxa de Músiques a Catalunya, the Festival de Torruella de Montgrí, the Centre Robert Gerhard, the Acadèmia 1750 or the Auditori.

This lecture is a part of the Museu del Barroc de Catalunya’s ongoing effort to spread baroque art in all its aspects and mark the start of its first music season, with the goal of making it an annual cycle. This bet for the Catalan music of the moment starts in the museum rooms of the Museu del Barroc de Catalunya, that offers different musical compositions by some of the most important composers of Catalonia
