A small taste of the Museu de Manresa through some of the most representative pieces of the collection

This exhibition shows some of the most representative pieces from the Museu de Manresa collection, offering a journey through some of the more relevant stages in city’s history. From pieces from the archeological collection, the outstanding remains from Neolithic sites such as Les Marcetes, as well as other pieces from Roman sites in the region. Also, you may watch important samples of medieval art, such as a collection of some ceramic vessels decorated in green and manganese (14th century), the so-called ‘Manresa ceramics’, which stands out for its rich decorative themes with elements of Eastern and Central European tradition.

The exhibition also brings together elements of the city’s festive life, such as the figures of the Old Giants, which were made in 1840 and they are ones of the oldest in Catalonia. Regarding the contemporary period, we have the ‘Auca de la Llum’ by Joan Vilanova i Roset, which stands out for his greatest contribution to the graphic history of Manresa. Finally, the works of some of the most renowned artists of the city and the region, such as Maria Noguera, Evarist Basiana or Josep Dalmau, are also shown.
