The exhibition “Nazario. Art and Dissidence in Times of Repression and Liberation” offers a journey through the life and work of Nazario. The Andalusian artist is considered the father of Spanish underground comics and a prominent figure in gay comics.
The exhibition presents Nazario’s work in the context of the struggle of the LGTBIQ+ collective, a very relevant theme in the seventies and eighties, but still very current. It consists of three different areas where you can discover three themes related to his work. First, it deals with the struggle of the LGTBIQ+ collective during the seventies; later, it continues with an area on the stigmatization of AIDS. Finally, there is a third area with his more personal work, where he explores sexuality and personal intimacy.
On Saturday, May 10, a guided tour of the exhibition will be organized by two of its curators: Cristina Troya and Ainoa Llàcer.
